MOOROOKA
Suburb Profile
Moorooka was once known mainly for it's "Magic Mile" of caryards down Ipswich Road but is now a space where communities engage and enjoy cafe culture, a diversity of people and families. Only 8km from the CBD, there are character homes, varied shopping districts and easy public transport.
There has been a lot of community work done in this local neighbouhood in recent years and regular events take place including the Moorooka Festival, Chrome Street Festival and a Christmas event each year.

Moorooka has lots of stories to tell with old tram lines, gorgeous period homes and banana plantations in the rich and varied history of the area.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the magic mile, you will find a leafy and hilly residential area which boasts elevated wooden houses on substantial blocks along with small apartment buildings. The lower cost housing is located in the Southern portion of the suburn which historically served the returned servicemen after the Second World War.
